Johor Bahru has three transport plans at very different stages: the RTS Link, which is built and being tested; an RM10 billion elevated transit system that has Cabinet approval but no signed contract; and a bus expansion that is already funded. RTS Link — built, testing, opening February 2027RTS Link —— 已建好、测试中，2027年2月通车

Passenger service is now expected in February 2027, moved from January under a joint statement by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority and Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport on 2 October 2026. Transport Minister Anthony Loke described February as a buffer rather than a delay. Official specifications, from MRT Corp: 4 km total, two stations (Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North), about 6 minutes station to station, and 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction.MRT Corp公布的官方规格：全长4公里，两个车站（Bukit Chagar与Woodlands North），站到站约6分钟，每方向每小时10,000名乘客。

Fares are still not announced. Figures of around RM15 to RM22 have circulated, but the minister described these as reflecting commercial principles, not an official fare. Treat any fare you see quoted as unconfirmed.票价尚未公布。坊间流传约RM15至RM22的数字，但部长表示那只是反映商业原则，并非官方票价。看到任何票价，都应当作未经证实。

One point often got wrong: Bukit Chagar station has its own immigration hall. RTS passengers clear there and do not pass through Bangunan Sultan Iskandar at all. The e-ART is an Elevated Autonomous Rapid Transit system: trackless, rubber-tyred articulated vehicles running on a dedicated elevated guideway. It is not a railway.e-ART是Elevated Autonomous Rapid Transit（高架自动快速交通系统）：无轨、胶轮的铰接式车辆，在专用高架导轨上行驶。它不是铁路。

What is confirmed:已确认的部分：

• RM10 billion, approved by Cabinet, announced by the Transport Minister on 17 May 2026.100亿令吉，内阁批准，交通部长于2026年5月17日宣布。
• Roughly RM350 million per kilometre, excluding land acquisition, with the final figure depending on the alignment.每公里约3.5亿令吉，不含征地费，最终数字视路线而定。
• Funded through a public-private partnership, outside the normal ministry tender process. The government funds part; the split has not been disclosed.以公私合作（PPP）模式推行，不走一般的部门招标程序。政府承担部分资金，比例未公布。

What is not confirmed: there is no letter of award and no signed concession agreement, so there is no construction start date and no opening year. The Iskandar Malaysia BRT, planned from 2016, was dropped. The state committee found it could not ease congestion because about 13.79 km, roughly a quarter of the route, would have shared lanes with ordinary traffic. Separately, Johor’s exco chairman said in September 2026 that pedestrian overhead bridges linking Bukit Chagar to JB Sentral, City Square and Komtar JBCC are being built in phases, with most ready by the end of 2026 and the rest in 2027.
