Haze: Johor schools closed 12–16 Oct as air quality worsens |

All schools and educational institutions in Johor are closed from 12 to 16 October 2026 because of transboundary haze, under a decree from the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail. Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the state were reported at between 170 and 180, in the unhealthy range. Singapore is also affected, with its central region recording a 2026 high PSI of 181 on 9 October.

Key points 重点

• Schools closed 12–16 Oct; exams and assessments postponed
• Home-based learning (PdPR) continues where suitable 视情况继续居家学习（PdPR）
• Haze is from forest and land fires in the region, not local sources
• Winds from Kalimantan may bring more smoke between 13 and 15 Oct 10

What it means for buyers

Haze affects the whole region, Johor and Singapore alike, and episodes like this are usually temporary. If you are planning a viewing trip to Johor Bahru this week, check the latest readings first (Malaysia: APIMS; Singapore: haze.gov.sg) and consider moving show-unit or site visits to a clearer day. Indoor viewings and online consultations are a good option in the meantime.
